Our annual swimming carnival is held in February at the Ashford Memorial Pool. The event features swimming races for the primary and secondary students, novelty events for infants children, community vs staff events and a BBQ lunch. Well attended by families it is a great atmosphere to start the school year with students dressed in novelty outfits to support the house colours and older students assisting the little ones who need assistance to race in the 'big pool'.
The Easter hat parade and egg hunt is a popular event for all. Spectacular homemade hats are a feature, and everyone enjoys the parade.
Held in autumn, our cross country carnival is conducted at the local golf club. Many students are selected to represent our school and the zone and regional level.
Featuring homemade cupcakes, slices, biscuits, fresh scones with jam and cream, delicious sandwiches together with tea, coffee and cold drinks, Mother's day high tea is enjoyed by all our students and their families.
All the food is cooked by our students under the supervision and guidance of our staff. It is such a relaxing atmosphere in the beautiful quadrangle garden area.
The Ashford town oval comes alive in winter for our annual athletics carnival. Many families attend in support of our students who enjoy running races, javelin, high jump, discus, shot put, long jump, triple jump and novelty events. A serious event for some who go on to be selected for zone, regional and state level athletics events, others entertain with an array of novelty costumes in house colours.
Father's day is celebrated with a breakfast event including homemade pancakes, bacon and egg rolls, hash browns, tea, coffee, fresh juice. Celebrated by all our students and their families, our school quadrangle garden area provides a perfect backdrop for this community event.
NAIDOC day celebrations are held by the Severn River in early spring. Students, family and community members converge on the local show ground and enjoy morning tea and lunch, and a great variety of activities. From kayaking, swimming, mountain biking, face painting, traditional crafts and a smoking ceremony, the support for this event is second to none and a truly meaningful and relaxing day is enjoyed by all.
The school hall is transformed into an amazing reception venue for our year 12 formal. Seated at beautifully decorated tables, students and their families and guests enjoy canape`s and mocktails followed by two course dinner. The event is catered by our students under the supervision of our dedicated staff. Formal proceedings are organised by our secondary head teachers with many entertaining speeches including the much anticipated 'student roast and reply'.
